Police DAV School organized a oneday CBSE inhouse capacity building seminar
Ambala, June 30:- A one-day CBSE in-house capacity building seminar on the theme “Promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing among Students” was organized at Police DAV Public School, Ambala city. Its main objective was to create awareness among teachers about the mental health of students and to provide information on ways to address issues like stress, anxiety and depression.
During the seminar, the school’s Principal Dr. Vikas Kohli said that such seminars develop the thinking, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills of the participants. He stressed on the need for a healthy mind to lead a healthy life and the need for both students and teachers to understand their emotions and adopt a positive mindset.
He said that in today’s competitive environment, taking care of mental health is as important as physical health. Stress should be managed positively and one should not hesitate to seek help when needed. He urged the teachers to continue to instill confidence in the students so that they maintain their self-confidence and avoid negative thoughts. He stressed on the need to organize such events regularly.
Retired Principal Sanskrit scholar Dr. Kamdev Jha promoted the mental health of the participants through various mythological stories. He mentioned various contexts from Mahabharata and Ramayana and said that a mentally healthy person is confident, balanced and sensitive towards others. He maintains relationships well and achieves success in life. He shed light on the Guru-Shish tradition and also shared various facts and incidents from history. He presented examples from various books of English and Hindi literature.
The keynote speaker of the seminar, Mrs. Manju Suthar, stressed on the importance of mental health in life. She described the seven chakras in the body and told the teachers about the different processes of breathing. All the teachers practiced various breathing techniques well.
The second keynote speaker Chandra Prakash highlighted the importance of mental health. He also presented various ways to manage stress, time and boost self-confidence to the students and highlighted the causes and solutions of stress among students. He stressed the importance of praising students and said that we should be good listeners. He also showed several relevant videos.
The participants participated enthusiastically in this seminar and expressed their curiosity in the question and answer session. The seminar was useful and inspiring.
