Plants are the primary source of oxygen Kashmir Singh
Ratia, June 6: A tree plantation drive was held at Gurdwara Sri Vishwakarma Sahib to mark World Environment Day. The fifth day of the ongoing 10-day summer camp at the Gurdwara was inaugurated by S. Kashmir Singh, President of Gurdwara Vishwakarma Sahib. Also present on the occasion were Bhai Maninderjit Singh (SGPC Preacher), teacher Meena Arora, and teacher Kanchan Rani.
Addressing the children while planting saplings, President Kashmir Singh and Preacher Maninderjit Singh emphasized that plants are the foundation of our lives, providing oxygen to humans free of cost and selflessly; yet, conversely, humans are cutting down trees instead of planting more. We must protect the environment by planting as many trees as possible.
Providing details about the camp, social activist Happy Singh Sethi explained that the Gurmukhi and Punjabi training camp not only connects children with moral education and their culture but also educates them about significant observances. On the occasion of Environment Day, children were informed about natural resources and the benefits of a lush green, clean environment.
He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic made everyone realize the importance of oxygen—a resource we often destroy for selfish reasons despite it being freely available. We should plant trees in our surroundings and in suitable locations to ensure environmental safety and enable humans to lead happy lives.
On this occasion, Mrs. Meena Arora (District President, Wings Welfare Society, Ratia), teacher Kanchan Rani, and other members present took a pledge alongside the children to protect the environment.
