Pile of soil on TahliwalSantokhgarh road causes accidents commuters raise safety concerns

Haroli/Una, June 27 (Rajveer Chopra): Commuters are facing significant difficulties due to a pile of soil dumped on the roadside near the entry gate of the Tahliwal Nagar Panchayat on the main Tahliwal-Santokhgarh road. According to locals, the soil has been lying there for several days, obstructing about four feet of the roadway and disrupting the flow of traffic.
Last night, some workers returning home after their shifts in the Tahliwal industrial area collided with the soil pile due to darkness. They sustained injuries, and their two-wheelers were damaged. Fortunately, a major tragedy was averted.
Locals state that no one knows who dumped the soil. If the soil was brought for construction work, it should have been utilized in a timely manner. Leaving soil on a busy road in this manner is tantamount to inviting accidents.
Commuters Mohit, Raman, Kaka, and Pamma recounted that they, too, narrowly escaped accidents caused by the soil pile last night. They pointed out that the Tahliwal-Santokhgarh road remains busy round-the-clock due to the industrial area, with large numbers of workers, schoolchildren, and other vehicles passing through.
Residents have demanded that the Tahliwal Nagar Panchayat and the district administration immediately remove the soil pile. They also urged that responsibility be fixed if a specific department or contractor dumped the material, so that major accidents can be prevented in the future. Locals questioned whether the administration is waiting for a serious accident to occur.
Niranjana Kumari, President of the Tahliwal Nagar Panchayat, stated that the matter has come to their attention and the issue will be resolved soon.
