Ratia, June 24: A potential disaster was averted thanks to the alertness of a pet dog in the lane opposite the closed Jio-Reliance petrol pump in the Employees' Colony. The pet dog suddenly began barking incessantly and repeatedly moved towards the bathroom. This behavior made the family suspect something was amiss.
When family members checked the bathroom, they found a massive cobra sitting with its hood raised. The sight of the snake caused panic within the family. Wildlife conservationist and snake rescue expert Navjot Singh Dhillon was then informed.
Upon receiving the information, Navjot Singh Dhillon arrived at the scene and safely captured the cobra after a careful rescue operation. A crowd of locals gathered during the rescue. Later, the snake was released into a safe natural habitat.
Navjot Singh Dhillon explained that with the onset of the monsoon season, snakes often venture into residential areas in search of food and safe shelter. He noted that the cobra is a highly venomous snake; therefore, in such situations, one should immediately inform a trained rescue team instead of panicking.
He urged people to seek immediate hospital treatment if bitten by a snake, rather than resorting to faith healing or superstitious practices. Timely medical care can save the life of a snakebite victim.
