PECs 77th Annual Athletic Meet Concludes with a Spirit of Unity and Excellence

Chandigarh: 2nd November, 2025: The 77th Annual Athletic Meet of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, concluded on a vibrant note with an inspiring closing ceremony that celebrated the athletes’ unwavering determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Organized by the Sports Department, under the aegis of Dean Student Affairs, Dr. D.R. Prajapati, the four-day event witnessed spirited participation from students across departments, reflecting PEC’s deep-rooted commitment to holistic development through sports and physical fitness.
The final day began with high-energy competitions that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. Daksh delivered a commendable performance in the 1500 meters race (Boys), showcasing endurance and mental strength to secure first place. In the Girls’ category, Yashika Sharma sprinted to glory in the 50 meters race, while Anshika dominated multiple events including the 400 meters race, 1600 meters cycling, Slow Cycling, and Javelin Throw, emerging as one of the standout performers of the meet. Sabreena impressed the crowd with her coordination and consistency in the Rope Skipping event, while the duo of Pearl and Anshika claimed victory in the Three-Legged Race through perfect teamwork and timing. The much-awaited Tug of War served as a fitting finale to the competitions, with the Circuit Branch team pulling their way to a hard-fought victory amidst roaring cheers from their peers.
Following the culmination of the events, the Closing Ceremony was graced by Ms. Avneet Kaur Sidhu, PPS, along with Dr. D.R. Prajapati (DSA), in the presence of faculty members, students, and esteemed guests. The atmosphere was charged with pride as the winners stepped forward to receive their medals and trophies, marking the successful conclusion of yet another memorable edition of the Annual Athletic Meet.
Ms. Avneet Kaur Sidhu, PPS, shared words that resonated deeply with the spirit of the occasion. She emphasized that sportsmanship is not just about winning medals—it is about the discipline, dedication, and motivation that shape one’s character. She further added that the lessons learned on the field extend far beyond the track, teaching individuals perseverance and focus that will guide them long after they graduate from the institute. Her encouraging message served as a powerful reminder of how sports play an integral role in building determination and leadership among young engineers.
The ceremony concluded with expressions of gratitude towards the organizing committee, volunteers, and faculty members for their tireless efforts in ensuring the meet’s success. The Sports Department, under the mentorship of the Office of Dean Student Affairs, once again demonstrated excellence in planning and execution, providing a platform for students to push their limits and celebrate collective achievement.
