Sangrur, June 23- Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sangrur, under the aegis of the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU Ludhiana and the Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana, organized a live Screeing programme for the release of the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme. Held in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, the event drew over 150 farmers, farm women, agricultural officials, and stakeholders from across Sangrur district.
Dr. Mandeep Singh, Incharge, PAU-KVK Sangrur, welcomed the participants and underlined the significance of PM-KISAN Scheme in extending direct financial support to farmers. He urged farmers to adopt modern, sustainable, and resource-efficient practices to boost productivity and income, and to actively leverage government initiatives aimed at strengthening agriculture and rural livelihoods.
Participants witnessed the live address marking the release of the 23rd installment, under which over Rs 18,880 crore was transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than 9.44 crore farmers nationwide.
Farmers were briefed on the benefits of these schemes for enhancing resilience and modernizing agricultural practices.
Special emphasis was placed on the _Khet Bachao Abhiyan_, with farmers encouraged to reduce indiscriminate use of agro chemicals and shift toward eco-friendly, sustainable farming methods.
Celebrated as _PM Kisan Utsav Divas_, the event reflected a strong commitment to farmer welfare and empowerment. Faculty and staff of KVK Sangrur interacted with participants and addressed queries related to agriculture and allied sectors.
