Panchayat projects gain momentum in Haryana
Chandigarh, December 17 - Haryana Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi, who is also the Chairman of Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC), said that there has been remarkable progress in several major rail infrastructure projects of the state.
Mr. Rastogi was reviewing the progress of various projects during the 35th meeting of the HRIDC Board of Directors.
It was informed in the meeting that the Kurukshetra Elevated Tech project has reached an advanced stage of execution. All civil, track, signalling and telecommunication and overhead electrification works related to the viaduct have been completed. The construction of the elevated platform is also in the final stage. The completed works will soon be subject to technical inspection by the Northern Railway. This will be followed by an inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety.
The Chief Secretary directed the officials to expedite the remaining works so that the project can be commissioned soon. Appreciating the expertise acquired by HRIDC, he also suggested the corporation to expand its scope and work towards making it a national identity.
It was informed in the meeting that the alignment under the study of the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor, which is proposed from Sonipat to Palwal via Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar, has been approved by the Steering Committee headed by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. The feasibility study of the corridor is in an advanced stage.
The Chief Secretary said that there has been remarkable progress in various components of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project. The Manesar-Patli block and Maruti Railway Yard of the project have been commissioned in June 2025. So far, 372 rakes have been loaded from Maruti Plot at Manesar. Along with this, the Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation has also started receiving the goods. Phase-1 (Principle) forest clearance has been received for the project and approval has also been applied for under Aravalli clearance.
There has also been a noteworthy progress in the distribution of land compensation. Rs. 1533 crore has been paid so far against the total amount of Rs. 1878 crore of land award. Apart from this, Rs. 99 crore has also been paid under the arbitration award.
It was also informed in the meeting that the tunnel under construction under HORC project is one of the largest tunnels in the region in terms of its cross-section for passenger traffic. The construction work of the tunnel is progressing at a satisfactory pace. Currently, work is being done from eight active phases and two more phases are being developed to further accelerate the work. Out of the total 7200 meters long tunnel to be constructed using New Austrian Tunneling Method, 3773 meters, i.e. more than 52 percent of the total length, have been excavated so far.
Stating the overall progress of the projects, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Rastogi said that these projects reflect the commitment of the state government to develop a modern, efficient and sustainable rail infrastructure. He said that these red corridors will strengthen regional connectivity, boost economic growth and improve the mobility of citizens. He assured that HRIDC is committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety and environment along with timely implementation.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Arun Kumar Gupta and Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department Mr. Anurag Agarwal along with other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
