Pakistan Petrol Crisis Huge hike in premium petrol prices
Islamabad:- The Pakistan government has decided to increase oil prices. In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the price of high-octane oil (which is mostly used in expensive and luxury vehicles) has been increased by Rs 200 per liter. After this decision, the price of this oil has now increased from Rs 100 to Rs 300 per liter. The government says that this increase will not have any impact on the fares of public transport (buses etc.) used by the common people.
Earlier on March 6, the government had increased the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 55 per liter. After this increase, now the price of petrol in Pakistan has increased from Rs 266.17 to Rs 321.17 and the price of diesel has increased from Rs 280.86 to Rs 335.86 per liter. The main reason for the increase in oil prices is being said to be the increasing tension between Iran and Israel-America at the global level. Due to the increasing oil prices, air travel in Pakistan has also become expensive. The prices of domestic flights (such as Karachi to Lahore or Islamabad) have increased by Rs 2,800 to Rs 5,000. Not only this, the fares of international flights have seen a huge increase of Rs 10,000 to Rs 28,000. Especially people going to the Middle East and Central Asia will now have to loosen their pockets more.
