Paid Holiday Declared in the District in View of Panchayat Elections2026

Una, May 21: In view of the General Elections-2026 for Panchayati Raj Institutions, a paid holiday has been declared in District Una on May 26 (First Phase), May 28 (Second Phase), and May 30 (Third Phase) within the respective Panchayat areas where voting is scheduled to take place. During this period, a holiday shall be observed in the concerned Panchayat areas where polling is being held.
Sharing this information, Deputy Commissioner Una, Jatin Lal, stated that these orders have been issued with the objective of ensuring maximum voter participation in the democratic process and conducting the elections in a peaceful, fair, and orderly manner.
He informed that on these days, all government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions, and industrial establishments located within the district shall remain closed. Furthermore, shops and other commercial establishments situated in the concerned Panchayat areas—including those institutions falling under the purview of the Industrial Disputes Act—shall also remain closed on the aforementioned dates.
The Deputy Commissioner clarified that this holiday shall also be applicable to daily-wage employees and shall be treated as a valid paid holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
Additionally, employees working at various locations across the state who possess the right to vote in the respective Panchayati Raj Institutions may be granted special casual leave. To avail this, the concerned employee must submit a certificate issued by the Presiding Officer, confirming that the employee has exercised their franchise.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to all citizens, employees, and institutions to ensure their active participation in this grand festival of democracy and to extend their cooperation towards a peaceful election process.
