Indri/Karnal, June 30: A one-day training program for the Sarpanchs of Indri block was organized on Tuesday at the BDPO office in Indri, under the guidance of the District Programme Officer, Karnal.
The objective of the training was to sensitize Panchayat representatives about child protection and the various schemes and legal provisions of the Department of Women and Child Development. During the session, detailed information was provided on key topics such as the POCSO Act, child rights, the 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao' campaign, and the Poshan Abhiyan.
It was highlighted during the training that the role of Sarpanchs is crucial at the village level regarding children's safety, education, and nutrition, as well as women's empowerment. Participants were urged to ensure the effective implementation of government schemes in their respective villages, raise public awareness, and promptly report any instances of child exploitation or violations of child rights to the concerned department.
At the conclusion of the program, the participants' queries were addressed, and they were encouraged to play an active role in matters related to the protection of child rights and the welfare of women and children.
