Offer Respect Not Insult Veena Chugh

Haryana/Hisar: We are taught that we should never insult anyone, nor should we tolerate it if someone insults us. Yet, despite this, people occasionally end up insulting others. Driven by harsh sentiments harbored within their minds, they humiliate someone right to their face. It is worth remembering that it is not the one who insults, but the one who offers respect, who is truly considered a person of a large heart.
Often, school teachers repeatedly point out the faults of one or two specific students—and they do so right in front of their peers. If the other children laugh at them, the targeted student is left to silently swallow the bitter pill of humiliation. Frequently, this experience takes deep root in their hearts, causing their temperament to become irritable. Such incidents occur all too often; however, we must always bear in mind that we should never mock someone for their mistakes in the presence of others.
If a mistake is made, it is neither right to humiliate the person in front of an entire gathering nor to resort to physical punishment or harsh scolding. Such actions shatter their morale. It is equally inappropriate to treat children in this manner. Parents often scold their children over trivial matters; this instills fear in the children's minds, preventing them from expressing themselves openly and freely.
Parents frequently compare their children to others—a practice that is entirely inappropriate. This erodes a child's self-confidence and leads them to perceive themselves as inadequate. We must always strive to understand our children, shower them with love, and provide them with opportunities to learn from and correct their mistakes.
In today's world, children are in need of love and respect, not constant scolding and reprimands. If we treat our children with respect, they, in turn, will respect us and grow up to become good human beings within society.
If we insult someone, it serves as a reflection of our own upbringing and values. Therefore, we should always treat others with respect and maintain gentleness in both our language and our behavior.
If someone insults us, we should not retaliate in kind; instead, we should respond with patience and wisdom. This is the true mark of a genuine human being.
Therefore, always remember—"Do not insult; show respect."
