Nominations for Bihar Assembly elections begin

Patna- Notification has been issued for the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections. With this, the nomination process for 121 assembly seats has begun. Candidates will be able to file their nomination papers till October 17.
The Election Commission has directed for strict security arrangements at the nomination centres. This time the elections in Bihar will be held in two phases. The first phase of voting will be held on November 6, while the second phase of voting will be held on November 11. The counting of votes will be held on November 14.
The Election Commission has issued a notification for the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections. With this notification, candidates will be able to file their nominations for the 121 assembly seats going to polls in the first phase. This process will continue till October 17. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on the next day, October 18. Candidates who want to withdraw their nominations can do so till October 20.
The Election Commission has directed the state administration to maintain tight security around the nomination centres. Gathering of people and supporters outside the nomination centres has been banned. The number of people accompanying candidates during the filing of nominations has also been limited. A maximum of five people, including the candidate, will be allowed to attend the nomination. The entire nomination process will also be videographed.
To conduct the Bihar elections, the Election Commission has deployed around 850,000 officials across the state. These include 453,000 polling personnel, 250,000 police personnel, over 28,000 counting personnel and 18,000 micro-observers.
The first phase of voting will be held on November 6. This phase covers districts of North and South Bihar. These include assembly seats in districts like Patna, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Saharsa, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Buxar and Bhojpur.
Voting in all these constituencies will be held from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Bihar assembly elections are being held in two phases. Voting for the second phase will be held on November 11. Then all the votes will be counted on November 14.
