New announcements made by the Punjab Government for construction workers

Rahon:- Punjab Government Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken big decisions for construction workers. In which it has been announced to run a comprehensive campaign in Punjab for the registration of construction workers and to waive the registration fee for the workers. This registration fee will be paid by the Punjab Government and no fee will be charged from any worker at the time of registration.
Under this new campaign, it is estimated that 10 lakh construction workers will be registered and the Punjab Government will pay about Rs 15 crore of the registration fee. The Chief Minister has ordered to set up special camps in villages for registration. Apart from this, orders have been given to provide sheds and drinking water facilities for the workers in labor chowks. The processing time of the application of construction workers for welfare schemes has been reduced from 203 days to 73 days.
With this, the workers will get the benefits of welfare schemes soon. Along with this, it has also been said that women construction workers will also get the benefit of the 'Mother Daughters Satkar Yojana'. On the other hand, National Labor Organization (NLO) convener Baldev Bharti said that this step of the Punjab government is only good to see and hear, but the ground reality is that due to major shortcomings of the online portal for registration and welfare schemes of construction workers, the website often remains closed.
Due to which construction workers across Punjab are very disappointed. Baldev Bharti strongly demanded from the Punjab government that this online portal for registration and welfare schemes of construction workers should be run properly to give practical form to the above announcements and programs in the public interest.
