National Science Day Celebrated at Khalsa College
Garhshankar- National Science Day was celebrated at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, which is run under the management of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. The event was organized by the Science and Education Departments under the guidance of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera.
The programme was held on the theme “Women in Science: Catalyzing Viksit Bharat.” On this occasion, various activities were organized for students including poster presentations, poster making, games, model making and speech competitions.
During the event, inter-class competitions were conducted by the Department of Chemistry, Department of Biology, Department of Mathematics and Physics, and the Department of Education under the leadership of the Society of Science Students.
The role of judge for the competitions was performed by Dr. Yashpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor at Thapar University, Patiala.
According to the results of the competitions, B.Sc. and B.Sc. B.Ed. second-year students secured the first position, B.Sc. and B.Sc. B.Ed. first-year students secured the second position, and students of M.Sc. Chemistry and M.Sc. Mathematics secured the third position. The students who achieved top positions were honoured with cash prizes.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera encouraged students to develop scientific thinking and adopt a spirit of healthy competition. He also motivated them to continue participating in such activities in the future.
On this occasion, Prof. Lakhwinderjit Kaur, Dr. Janki Agarwal, Dr. Manbir Kaur, Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Dr. Preetinder Singh and other staff members were also present.
