National Lok Adalat Disposes 23412 cases in SAS Nagar
SAS Nagar, 14 March:- During the National Lok Adalat held in SAS Nagar, as many as 24,992 cases were taken up, out of which 23,412 cases were successfully disposed of through compromise. The different Lok Adalat benches passed awards amounting to Rs. 167,75,30,429.
Divulging the details, District and Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar that under guidance of Mr. Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar and Mr. Justice Mahabir Singh Sindhu, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Administrative Judge, Sessions Division, SAS Nagar, a total of 27 benches were set up at Mohali, Kharar and Derabassi.
In this Lok Adalat, a total of 24992 pre-litigative and pending Criminal Compoundable Offences, NI Act cases under Section-138, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour disputes, Land Acquisition cases, Electricity and Water Bills (Excluding non-compoundable theft cases), Service matters relating to pay and allowances and Retiral benefits, Revenue Cases and other Civil Cases (Rent, Easmentary Rights, injunction Suits, specific performance suits) were taken up.
During the National Lok Adalat, 16 benches were constituted at District Headquarter which were being presided over by Sh. Hardip Singh, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Sh. Prashant Verma, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Sh. Harsimranjit Singh, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Sh. Amanpreet Singh, Addl. Principal Judge, Family Court; Sh. Anish Goyal, Civil Judge (Sr. Divn.); Ms. Megha Dhaliwal, Chief Judicial Magistrate; Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Additional Civil Judge (Sr. Divn.); Sh. Abhay Rajan Shukla, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Ms. Poonam Kashyap, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Sh. Kirandeep Singh, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Sh. Sangam Kaushal, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Ms. Kamal Varinder, Presiding Officer, Industrial Tribunal; Ms. Gurmeet Kaur, Chairperson, Permanent Lok Adalat (PUS); Tehsildar, SAS Nagar; Naib Tehsildar, Banur and Presiding Officer, District Consumer Commission. Besides this, 5 benches at Sub-Division, Kharar of Sh. Hasandeep Singh Bajwa, Additional Civil Judge (Sr. Division); Ms. Shweta Dass, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Ms. Maitri Kakkar, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Naib Tehsildar Kharar and Naib Tehsildar, Majri and 6 benches at Sub-Division, Derabassi of Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Ms. Nandita, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Ms. Renika Gera, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Ms. Jasmine, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Sh. Amit Gupta, SDM and Sh. Sumit Dhillon, Tehsildar Dera Bassi had been constituted for National Lok Adalat.
Secretary, DLSA, Surabhi Prashar said that for the successful organization of this National Lok Adalat, Sh. Atul Kasana, District & Sessions Judge had called various meetings of judicial officers, officers of other Departments i.e. Banks, Electricity Department, Labour Department, Insurance Companies etc. to sensitize them about the National Lok Adalat.
They were also motivated and instructed to identify maximum number of cases which could be taken up in the National Lok Adalat and to make maximum efforts for disposal of the same in the Pre-Lok Adalats and National Lok Adalat.
