Narendra Modi arrives in South Africa to attend G20 summit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in South Africa today for a three-day visit. Mr. Modi arrived at the Waterkloof Air Force Base (AFB) in Gauteng, where he was welcomed in a traditional manner. On this occasion, cultural songs were sung and artists danced to celebrate. Mr. Modi said that this is the first G20 summit to be held in Africa. Africa became a member of the G20 during India's presidency in 2023.
Modi will attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg. This is the first time that the G20 summit is being held in the African continent. Mr. Modi had said before leaving that this is a special summit because it is being held in Africa. Various global issues will be discussed there. Mr. Modi has come at the invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa to attend the 20th G20 Leaders' Summit being held under the presidency of South Africa.
The G20 countries include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK, US, European Union and African Union.
