NAAC issues show cause notice to AlFalah University
New Delhi: Days after the Red Fort car blast, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has issued a show cause notice to Faridabad-based Al-Falah University for displaying false accreditation on its website.
The university claimed on its website that two institutions—Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology and Al-Falah School of Education and Training—are accredited by NAAC. The notice states that this accreditation has lapsed long ago, hence the claim was misleading.
Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Fatehpur was accredited for the period from March 23, 2013 to March 22, 2018. The accreditation of the Department of Teacher Education, Al-Falah School of Education and Training, Fatehpur, expired in March 2016.
The accreditation is granted for a period of five years. The NAAC said that both the colleges did not apply for the NAAC’s Cycle-2 assessment and accreditation process on their own.
The NAAC has asked the university why it should not initiate legal action against Al-Falah University. The council has asked the university to remove details of its NAAC accreditation from its website.
“The university may respond within 7 days of receipt of this show cause notice,” the NAAC said in a notice. The university has come under scrutiny after staff members of the Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre—Umar Un Nabi, Muzzammil Shakeel and Shaheen Saeed—were linked to the car blast outside the Red Fort.
