Mouth sores can be fatal treat them early Dr Jain
Karnal, November 8: Small sores or ulcers in the mouth are often overlooked, but these sores can prove fatal in the long run. Renowned dentists Dr. Anup Jain and Dr. Nitish Jain say that if these sores are not treated promptly, they can develop into oral cancer.
According to Dr. Jain, oral cancer is the most common cancer in India. It typically begins with sores on the tongue, gums, or inner cheeks, which gradually progress to cancer.
He explained that to raise awareness about this danger, dental health camps are being organized across the country, where special exercises are taught to keep the mouth and tongue muscles healthy. In these camps, people are being advised to stay away from harmful substances like tobacco, pan masala, and gutkha.
Dr. Jain explained that excessive consumption of spicy foods, tea, and coffee is a major cause of mouth ulcers and sores. He also emphasized the need to limit consumption of very hot or very cold beverages, as these also damage the delicate lining of the mouth.
He also advised that if mouth ulcers or sores persist for a long time, a dental examination should be immediately conducted. Furthermore, it is crucial to engage in daily yoga and light exercise, avoid stress, and maintain a healthy diet.
Dr. Jain warned that consumption of tobacco, gutkha, paan, and alcohol are among the major causes of oral cancer. Smokers are also at a significantly higher risk. He advised avoiding sharp objects in the mouth and not delaying treatment for pain or swelling in the gums.
Finally, both doctors emphasized that a healthy smile is possible only when people adopt a tobacco-free lifestyle and do not take oral health lightly. They also examined the teeth and gums of the attendees.
