Mohali, October 24, 2025 – Mohali Youth Congress President Shubham Singh (Shubham Sekhon) has strongly condemned the recent expansion of the municipal corporation limits, calling it "unfair and biased." "We welcome the inclusion of areas like Aerocity, IT City, and Sectors 81-95, but we strongly believe that TDI City, Balongi, Barhmajra, and other areas should also have been included in the expansion," Shubham Sekhon said in a statement.
He alleged that the expansion favors areas with personal projects of local MLAs, leaving out developed areas and areas requiring municipal attention. "This decision prioritizes special interests over public welfare and undermines the principles of fair governance," he said.
Shubh Sekhon said, "The left-out areas have been demanding inclusion for years, but they were arbitrarily left out. We urge the government to reconsider and include these areas as soon as possible." He stressed that the expansion must be inclusive, equitable, and meet the community's genuine needs.
