Modi government should stop killing Naxalites in encounters Democratic Front
Nawanshahr:- In a press statement issued here today, the conveners of the Anti-Operation Green Hunt Democratic Front, Dr. Parminder, Professor A.K. Maleri, Buta Singh Mahmudpur and Yashpal, have strongly condemned the alleged killing of 16 Naxalite cadres, including CPI (Maoist) Central Committee member Patiram Manjhi and five women, in the forests of West Singhbhum in Jharkhand on January 22.
They said that instead of presenting any concrete policy to uplift the living standards of marginalized tribals, Dalits and other affected sections, the BJP government is determined to build permanent cantonments of security forces in forest-hill areas and deal with the political question of the Naxalite movement in a fascist manner by making it a law and order issue. Instead of taking the Maoist movement as a political issue, the rulers are on the path of suppressing it through brutal massacres and spreading the dead bodies of their own countrymen.
The Modi-Amit Shah government's declared goal of making a 'Naxalism-free India by March 2026' by carrying out mass killings shows that the sole objective of the government is to crush the rights of the tribals and allow corporates to seize the natural wealth of the forests and mountains. He said that the armed force of the state can temporarily suppress the armed resistance movements arising from the naked injustice, gross inequality and anti-people performance of the current state administration, but state terrorism cannot eliminate social unrest.
The corporate-friendly economic model that snatches away the people's livelihood will further increase inequality and social injustice and social unrest will increase further in the future. He said that the practice of killing alleged Maoists by giving rewards and promotions to security forces and other forces is extremely dangerous from the point of view of democracy and human concerns. All democratic and justice-loving forces should take serious note of this and should raise a strong voice to stop the bloody intentions of the rulers through massive public protest.
He demanded that the killings in tribal areas through fake encounters and other forms should be stopped, all security camps should be removed and special security forces should be immediately recalled; the corporate-friendly economic model should be rejected, the natural rights of tribal people on water, forest and land should be recognized and mass movements should be stopped by declaring them illegal/banned.
