Lalru, March 10: MLA from Derabassi constituency S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa vehemently raised the demand for creation of sub-tehsil in Lalru city during the session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, fulfilling his promise.
He said that during the meeting held with Lalru Trade Board recently, traders and city residents had demanded creation of sub-tehsil in Lalru. Keeping this demand in mind, he raised this issue in Vidhan Sabha.
MLA Randhawa said that people of Lalru and nearby areas have to travel far for their revenue related work, due to which people have to face a lot of problems. He said that if sub-tehsil is created in Lalru, then thousands of people of the area will get great relief.
Speaking in the Vidhan Sabha, Randhawa said that the population of Derabassi Vidhan Sabha constituency is around 15 lakhs and he can claim that his constituency has the highest population out of 117 constituencies. He also said that the area where the demand for sub-tehsil has been made has about 40 villages, two cities and a population of more than one lakh, which meets the standards of sub-division.
He expressed hope that the government will soon fulfill this long-standing demand of the people.
