Mahilpur:- Taking a significant step towards strengthening the safety of passengers, Chabbewal MLA Dr Ishank Kumar announced that the state government has approved the project to install safety railings on the 18 km long canal route from Kot Fatuhi to Mehtiana. Raising the issue in the Vidhan Sabha as a matter of public safety, Dr Ishank had highlighted the risks faced by passengers using the canal road.
Taking note of this concern, the government has decided to implement the project in a phased manner. According to Dr Ishank, in the first phase, safety railings will be installed on the canal along a 5 km road from Kot Fatuhi to Panjora, costing ?1.5 crore. Grants have also been released for this section. Officially launching the project, MLA Dr Ishank Kumar cut the ribbon on the spot to mark the commencement of the work.
Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of the public, Dr Ishank Kumar said, “Your safety, and every concern you have raised, is my concern – my priority.” The project will help strengthen safety on the road along the canal and significantly reduce the risk of accidents.
