Midday meal workers to stop work from July 1st
Hoshiarpur: A meeting of the Mid-day Meal Workers' Union was held under the chairmanship of Block President Balwinder Kaur. During the meeting, the workers demanded that the Punjab government implement the demands formulated during their organized meetings. They called for a minimum monthly salary of ?18,000, accident and health insurance coverage, the provision of seasonal uniforms, regularization of their employment, and the granting of gratuity and pension upon reaching the age of 60.
The workers present at the meeting declared that they would stop preparing mid-day meals in all schools starting July 1st until their demands are met.
Narinder Ajnoha (Block President, Mahilpur, of the Punjab Subordinate Services Federation), Makhan Singh Langeri, Amarjit Kumar Nangal Khilarian, and Malkit Singh Bahowal supported the mid-day meal workers' demands and urged the Punjab government to resolve the issues as soon as possible.
Sandhya Rani, Asha Rani, Sukhwinder Kaur, Surinder Kaur, Kamaljit Kaur, Rajni Devi, Kiran Bala, Jasvir Kaur, and others were present at the meeting.
