Meeting of Krishi Sakhis to promote natural farming in SAS Nagar
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 06, 2026:- A meeting of Krishi Sakhis appointed to promote natural farming in the district was held under the chairmanship of Chief Agriculture Officer SAS Nagar Dr. Sukhjinder Singh Bajwa. The Chief Agriculture Officer said that the government has selected Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district under the Mission on Natural Farming Scheme to produce chemical-free agricultural products and under the scheme, 20 Krishi Sakhis and 1250 farmers who are interested in adopting natural farming are being selected in the district. These Krishi Sakhis are being given Rs. 5000 per month and Rs. 4000 per year as financial assistance to the farmers.
He also informed that action is being taken to get the soil samples of the farmers selected by these Krishi Sakhis tested and get them certified by the Punjab State Seed Certification Authority.
On this occasion, Harpreet Singh, representative of Punjab State Seed Certification, informed the Krishi Sakhis about the benefits of certification for farmers for natural farming and informed that organic products can be sold anywhere in India to organic food traders and organic food processing companies on their own terms and conditions on the portal of the Government of India www.jaivikkheti.in.
The nodal officer of this scheme, Dr. Gurdial Kumar, Agricultural Development Officer, Master Trainer Tarjinder Singh, Village Saidpur, Kamaldeep Singh ATM and farmers practicing organic farming/natural farming participated in this meeting.
