Maur Kalan residents burn effigies in front of SDM office in protest
Paigam-E-Jagat/Maur Mandi, October 13- Maur Kalan residents today burned effigies of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, MLA Sukhvir Singh Maisarkhana and Municipal Council President Karnail Singh in front of SDM office due to lack of solution to the drainage of sewage water. The villagers said that for a long time, the main road of Maur Kalan, on which there is also an Aam Aadmi Clinic and a road that goes from Kiran Hospital to Gurdwara Sahib, has been submerged in sewage water. A pipe should be laid from Kiran Hospital to the dispensary for drainage of water.
They said that we have staged protests, held meetings and submitted a memorandum to the SDM, but neither the constituency MLA nor the SDM, nor the Municipal Council President and the sewerage officials are listening to us, so we were forced to protest. Due to the negligence of the sewerage officials, today there are two patients of dengue, chikungunya, and black jaundice in every house in Maur Kalan, and the number of patients in the village has reached about 300.
The streets are full of mosquitoes, there is no dry road left to come and go, there is no way to bring medicine to the Aam Aadmi Clinic. They said that for about a year, efforts have been made to build culverts on the main road of the village, let alone the sewerage work, even the work of building culverts has not been done.
He also said that the Municipal Council President Karnail Singh and the constituency MLA Sukhvir Singh Maisarkhana do not get along but the residents of Maur Kalan are suffering the consequences. Maur Kalan has not benefited from laying the sewerage pipeline by spending crores of rupees, while the sewerage pipeline of ward number 15 near the bus stand has been connected illegally and the administration is trying to save the culprits.
After this, a meeting was held with the leaders. In the meeting, it was discussed to install a motor to temporarily drain the water, but no permanent solution was assured and the sewerage officials present there said that they do not have any machinery to drain the water. The meeting that lasted for half an hour did not yield any result and the leaders warned the administration that the next program will be drawn up soon and a fierce struggle will be launched to resolve this issue. When the SDM was asked about this, he said that 70-80% of the sewerage water problem in Maur Mandi, Maur Kalan and Maur Khurd has been solved.
Pipes get blocked due to people throwing garbage and grass and the work of cleaning them will also be started soon. A tender for clean drinking water has been floated and soon clean water will be supplied to the entire city. On the question of illegally connecting the sewerage pipeline of ward number 15, he said that we have received a complaint in this regard and our investigation is ongoing and appropriate action will be taken on the case.
On this occasion, Ramandeep Singh Ramna, Rajwinder Singh Raji leader Bhartiya Kisan Union Sidhupur, Pargat Singh Club President, Jagga Singh, Manga Singh, Lakhvir Singh, Happy Zaid, Soni Bawa, Gurjant Singh leader Bhartiya Kisan Union Sidhupur, Raj Singh, Lakhwinder Singh Nazi, Jaskaran Singh Numberdar, Narain Singh, Gurcharan Singh former MC, Gurcharan Singh President Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Rinku Singh leader Bhartiya Kisan Union Ugrahan, Kala Singh and a large number of villagers were present.
