Major action of security forces in Chhattisgarh 14 Maoists killed
Chhattisgarh:- 14 Maoists were killed in separate encounters between security forces and Naxalites in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Saturday. According to Home Ministry officials, 12 Naxalites were killed during the firing in Sukma district, including the dangerous commander Mangatu.
Similarly, the bodies of two more Maoists were found in the forests of Gaganpalli in Basaguda area of ??Bijapur, who have been identified as wanted terrorists like Hunga Madkam. Security forces have recovered an SLR rifle and a 12-bore gun along with other ammunition from the incident site.
Police officials said that the encounters began when teams of District Reserve Guard and security forces were conducting a search in the forests as part of an anti-Naxal operation. The firing started at around 5 am in Bijapur, which continued intermittently for a long time.
It is worth mentioning that a total of 285 Naxalites were killed in Chhattisgarh during the last year due to the government's tough policy against Naxalites. Till the latest reports were received, the search operation was still going on in the area and more details are awaited.
