The objective of this operation was to stop the preparation of illegal liquor, prevent revenue loss, and ensure the protection of public health.
The overall supervision of this campaign was conducted by S.S.P. Assistant Commissioner Hanuwant Singh informed that the search operation started at approximately 6:00 AM and continued for more than six hours. During this time, detailed searches were conducted in sensitive ‘Mand’ areas located on the banks of the Beas River, especially in villages Bhikhowal, Terkiana, and Saidpur. Due to difficult geographical conditions and proximity to water sources, these areas are considered sensitive for illegal liquor manufacturing.
During the operation, a large amount of material used in making illegal liquor was recovered, which was destroyed on the spot. The recovered material includes 15 tins, 8 iron drums, 4 working stills (Bhattis), 5 plastic cans, approximately 50,000 kilograms of Lahn (fermented wash) in 95 tarpaulins, and 75 liters of illicit liquor.
The Assistant Commissioner of Excise said that such actions are essential to break the illegal supply chain, protect revenue, and safeguard public health. He also clarified that such campaigns will be further intensified in sensitive areas and strict compliance with excise laws will be ensured. This joint effort will play a significant role in effectively curbing the illegal liquor trade.
