Hoshiarpur: A police encounter took place in the forest of Rampur Billron village in Hoshiarpur district, in which one criminal was shot in the leg. Two other criminals were arrested on the spot during the encounter. SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik visited the scene to assess the situation.
According to reports, a few days ago, three men on motorcycles robbed a money changer's shop in the main market of Mahilpur at gunpoint, stealing lakhs of rupees and fleeing the scene. The police had formed separate teams to investigate the incident and had launched a swift investigation. The motorcycle used in the crime was recovered at the scene.
It was learned that these robbers had also committed a robbery at Sai Steel in Chauhal village before the Mahilpur incident. Today, Mahilpur police received a tip-off that the accused in the above-mentioned robbery cases were roaming around the forest of Rampur Billron. The police then tracked them down and signaled them to stop in the forest adjacent to Billron.
Instead of stopping, the accused opened fire on the police, hitting a police vehicle and one officer. The officer survived because he was wearing a bulletproof vest. In retaliation, police fired back, and a bullet hit Onkar Gora in the leg, injuring him. His two accomplices were also apprehended on the spot.
