LPG Fuel Supply System Smooth in Haryana
Chandigarh, April 7:- Reiterating the state government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted supply of cooking gas in Haryana, Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi chaired a high-level meeting here today.
The meeting reviewed the supply of LPG cylinders, including 5 kg FTL cylinders, and the status of PNG network across the state. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioners of all districts through video conferencing and a comprehensive assessment of the situation at the ground level was made.
Mr. Anurag Rastogi said that the state government is fully committed to ensuring that no family in the state remains deprived of the availability of clean cooking fuel. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure supply of LPG to the last resort, including in rural areas.
He said that the availability of 5 kg GTL cylinders and PNG connectivity should be monitored regularly. The obstacles in booking and distribution should be removed and especially the process of issuing new gas connections to the beneficiaries of welfare schemes should be made more transparent and completed in a time-bound manner. He directed that the distribution system should not only be vigilant at all times but also sensitive.
The Chief Secretary said that the procurement of Rabi crops should continue smoothly in the state. Adequate arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth arrival and procurement of wheat. The procurement centres are being worked on smoothly.
Commissioner and Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Mr. J. Ganesan said that the supply of domestic LPG cylinders is continuing without any hindrance in the entire state. There is no shortage of domestic LPG in the state and the situation is the same as last year. This is the result of better coordination and advance planning between oil distribution companies like Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and the state government.
It was informed in the meeting that from March 28, 2026, oil distribution companies have also resumed full supply of commercial LPG to hotels, restaurants, dhams and industries. This will provide relief to the hospitality and food service sector as well as give a boost to business activities. Business establishments can also register with the concerned companies for timely and uninterrupted supply.
It was informed in the meeting that a total of 54.59 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were supplied throughout the state during March 2026. Out of these, Indian Oil made available 23.36 lakh, Bharat Petroleum 18.83 lakh and Hindustan Petroleum 12.21 lakh cylinders. This distribution network is working effectively in both urban and rural areas.
The meeting focused on the availability of 5 kg Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders, which is a convenient option for migrant labourers, small families, street vendors and small canteens. A total of 4730 FTL cylinders were sold in the state between 1st and 5th April. Out of this, Indian Oil supplied 1294, Bharat Petroleum 2422 and Hindustan Petroleum 1014 cylinders.
It is noteworthy that the Central Government has also directed the states to double the daily supply of 5 kg FTL cylinders.
In order to promote energy access and use of clean fuel, 2,565 new LPG connections have been issued since March 15, 2026. These include 1,090 connections of 5 kg cylinders and 1,462 connections of 19 kg domestic cylinders. Fuel supply is also continuing normally at petrol pumps and citizens have been advised not to panic buy.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Forest and Wildlife Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Commissioner and Secretary, Excise and Taxation Department, Mrs. Ashima Brar and other senior officers.
