Livasa Hospital Hoshiarpur Launches Advanced Imaging Technology IVUS
Hoshiarpur, December 17: Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), capable of significantly enhancing the safety and success rate of cardiac procedures, was launched on Wednesday at Livasa Hospital Hoshiarpur.
Associate Director-Cardiology Dr. Ravi Kumar V informed in a press conference that IVUS uses a miniature ultrasound probe on a catheter to provide real-time, 360-degree images from inside the coronary arteries. Unlike angiography, which provides only a two-dimensional outline, IVUS offers detailed understanding about the composition of plaque buildup in the vessels, artery size, severity of blockage, and stent position. As a result, more accurate treatment decisions are made, and patient safety is improved.
Dr. Ravi Kumar V said, "IVUS is a game-changer technology because it eliminates the guessing process. We can now accurately measure arteries, select the correct stent size, and ensure proper deployment. All this reduces complications and improves long-term outcomes."
Facility Director-Livasa Hospital, Hoshiarpur Abhinav Srivastava said that now there is no need for long journeys for advanced heart treatments, as patients from Hoshiarpur and this region can now avail the benefits of advanced imaging technology IVUS close to their homes.
