Letter regarding educational qualification for promotion of Principal issued
Mohali:- State President of Government School Lecturer Union, Punjab Sanjeev Kumar and State Press Secretary Ranbir Singh Sohal informed that the School Education Department has issued a letter clarifying that post graduation educational qualification is required for the post of Principal but the condition of minimum 50% marks for General category in Post Graduate and 45% marks for SC, ST, BC, OBC and Divyang category is not applicable. They thanked the Honorable Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains and Honorable Education Secretary Mrs. Anandita Mitra for this clarification.
Government School Lecturers Union Punjab Senior Vice President Jagtar Singh Saidoke, General Secretary Balraj Bajwa and Secretary General Ravinderpal Singh Bains informed the Principal Education Secretary that more than 1000 senior secondary schools in Punjab are devoid of principals and every month hundreds of lecturers are retiring in disappointment after serving for 25 years and waiting for promotions.
Union Senior Vice President Aman Sharma and Avtar Singh Dhanoa informed that there is a lot of resentment among the teaching staff of the Education Department due to non-release of installments and arrears of salary allowance, DA.
The state leaders of the union have requested the district education officers to fill the vacant posts of Deputy Director and Joint Director at the head office so that the department can benefit from the services of experienced officers.
Amarjit Singh Walia, Jaspal Singh Walia and Baljit Singh and other leaders were present in this meeting.
