Lamarin Tech Skills University Punjab Hosts National Youth Parliament 2026
Hoshiarpur: Lamarin Tech Skills University, Punjab, successfully hosted the District Round of the National Youth Parliament 2026, a national-level event and district-level competition, on its campus. The University has been designated as the nodal center for District Nawanshahr under the My India Initiative of the Government of India.
The competition, organized under the theme "50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy," encouraged students to reflect on the constitutional, political, and democratic implications of the Emergency in India. A total of 21 students participated in the District Round and demonstrated a strong understanding of parliamentary procedures, democratic values, and national issues through simulated parliamentary sessions.
Participants actively participated in debates, discussions, and question periods, demonstrating excellent public speaking skills, leadership qualities, and awareness of democratic governance. Their performances were evaluated by an expert panel based on confidence, content, clarity of ideas, and knowledge of parliamentary functioning.
The judges for this Youth Parliament session were Satpal Singh, Professor, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar; Mrs. Inderjit Kaur, Principal, Government Senior Secondary School, Ghumana; Dr. Navneet Chopra, Dean, Academic Affairs, LTSU; and Dr. Ajit Singh, Deputy Director (Retired). Ten outstanding students were selected for the state-level round of the National Youth Parliament 2026.
This achievement is a proud moment for the University and reflects its continued efforts towards youth leadership and democratic education. The University's Chancellor, Mr. N.S. Riyat, and Vice Chancellor, Dr. A.S. Chawla, commended the Youth Parliament session on the University campus.
The event was well coordinated by Ratan Kaur, Assistant Director Youth Services and Mr. Shubham Sharma, Programme Officer, which concluded with appreciation for all the participants and best wishes to the selected students for their upcoming state-level competition.
