Kirti Kisan Union Delegation Demands Girdawari for Crops Damaged by Storm

Nawanshahr- Today, a delegation of the Kirti Kisan Union, led by District President Surinder Singh Bains, met the Deputy Commissioner to demand an immediate Girdawari (crop loss assessment) of the damaged crops. They informed the Deputy Commissioner that on the evening of April 30, rain, storms, and hailstones caused extensive damage to maize and fodder crops.
Prior to this, the peas that were sown did not fetch a fair price, forcing farmers to feed them to their livestock. Subsequently, the maize crop that was planted has also been ruined, leading to further financial losses.
Through the Deputy Commissioner, we demand that the government conduct an immediate special Girdawari in the four villages of Mazara Kalan, Shahabpur, Usmanpur, and the western side of Jadla, where maize fodder has suffered heavy damage. The government should fulfill its duty and provide compensation to the farmers of these villages.
The delegation that submitted the memorandum to the Honorable Deputy Commissioner included Bhupinder Singh Waraich, Kulveer Singh Shahpur, Bikkar Singh Sekhupur, Surinder Singh Mahrampur, Major Singh Usmanpur, Rana Ramji Das Sanawa, and Tara Singh Fauji.
