Kashmir Valley in grip of cold Pulwama coldest

Srinagar: Cold wave conditions continued in Kashmir. Officials said the minimum temperature in Kashmir dipped below freezing point, while a thick blanket of fog covered most parts of the Valley. The night temperature in Srinagar was recorded at minus 4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday night, slightly higher than the previous night's minus 4.4 degrees Celsius, officials said.
They said a thick blanket of fog covered Srinagar and other parts of the Valley, especially areas around water bodies. Pulwama town in south Kashmir remained the coldest place in the Valley with a minimum temperature of minus 5.6 degrees Celsius.
Officials said that the minimum temperature in Qazigund, the gateway to the valley, was recorded at minus 3.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Kupwara in north Kashmir was minus 3.2 degrees Celsius and in Kokernag in south Kashmir was minus 0.8 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Pahalgam tourist resort in south Kashmir was minus 4.8 degrees Celsius, while the Gulmarg skiing resort in north Kashmir was minus 1 degree Celsius.
The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of light snowfall at isolated places in the higher reaches late Thursday night and Friday morning. The weather will be generally dry on December 6-7, but there is a possibility of light snowfall at isolated places in the higher reaches on December 8.
