Karnal in the Ranking Race No More Mistakes Allowed

Karnal, December 30: A training program was organized in the auditorium of the Municipal Corporation office to enhance the capacity building of all the municipalities in the district, including the Karnal Municipal Corporation, and the five municipalities (Ismailabad, Siwan, Rajound, Narnaul, Kalanwali) that have been paired with the Municipal Corporation under the Swachh Shahar Jodi (Clean City Pair) initiative, to improve their rankings in the Swachh Survekshan 2025-26.
The program was presided over by Mayor Renu Bala Gupta. Additional Municipal Commissioner Ashok Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Abhay Singh, the Municipal Corporation's Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban team, and the Municipal Secretaries and their staff were present.
During the training program, the Municipal Corporation team provided detailed information to all those present on how to fill out the activities carried out by the municipalities on the MIS (Monthly Information System) portal. Information was also given on various points related to Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, including the toolkit issued for the survey, creating awareness among citizens and students in schools and colleges under Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities, establishing various art installations in parks under the Waste to Wonder initiative, setting up Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) centers, door-to-door waste segregation, regular cleaning, beautification work, the Safai Mitra Samman (Sanitation Worker Appreciation) campaign, and the distribution of sanitation worker kits. Emphasis was also placed on correcting the mistakes made during the previous survey so that better scores can be achieved this time.
On this occasion, the Mayor, in her address, said that cleanliness is our collective responsibility. Everyone must work together to achieve a top ranking in the Swachh Survekshan. The contribution of every employee is important in this work. She encouraged the employees and called upon them to make the cleanliness campaign a mass movement. She said that wherever the municipalities need guidance from the Karnal Municipal Corporation in cleanliness work, they will definitely receive it.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Ashok Kumar said that the main objective of the training program is to strengthen sanitation standards, streamline waste management, and ensure top performance in the survey. He provided clear guidance on points related to the cleanliness campaign, awareness programs, and the survey process, and instructed all concerned municipalities to follow these guidelines with immediate effect and submit regular reports. He also shared various types of information and experiences related to the survey.
On this occasion, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Abhay Singh said that the Swachh Survekshan (Cleanliness Survey) is conducted every year to further strengthen the cleanliness campaign and encourage excellent performance, so that all cities can participate in this competition and make their cities clean and beautiful. He said that if the employees and sanitation workers prepare a work plan and work as a team, success is certain.
