Joint checking drive conducted at Sunam for prevention of child labour

Sunam, 29 July:- As per directions issued by Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab, under guidance of District Programme Officer Sangrur Pradeep Singh Gill, a joint checking drive was conducted at Sunam city for prevention of child labour.
This joint checking team included Labour Inspector Kuldeep Singh from Labour Department, Pawandeep from Education Department, Nirmal Kaur from District Child Protection Unit and Satgur Singh from Police Department. Team thoroughly checked various commercial establishments of city, hotels, dhabas, workshops, shops and other public places.
During checking, no child was found doing child labour at any place, due to which there was no need to rescue any child.
On this occasion joint team made shopkeepers, businessmen and general public aware regarding prevention of child labour. They were also appealed to cooperate with administration to connect children with education, protect their rights and eradicate social evil like child labour.
District Programme Officer Pradeep Singh Gill said that district administration is fully committed for eradication of child labour and protection of best interests of children. He said that providing safe, educated and exploitation-free environment to children is our joint responsibility. He told that such joint checking drives will continue continuously in future as well so that child labour can be completely stopped and protection of rights of every child can be ensured.
