JCB crushed a 6monthold child of a migrant worker
Ambala, February 8:- A heart-wrenching accident took place at 12 noon on Sunday in a factory under construction in Himayupur village under Handesra police station adjacent to Ambala when a JCB crushed a six-month-old child of a migrant worker working there. Innocent Tanveer died on the spot. On receiving information, the factory owner, contractor and family members brought the child to the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantt where the doctor declared him dead. The child’s body has been kept in the hospital morgue and a post-mortem will be conducted after the Punjab Police arrives.
The deceased’s father Hargyan Singh said that he has been working in an under-construction factory in Himayupur for the last one and a half months. His wife and three children also live with him. While working this afternoon, he had made the child lie down near a pile of gravel. Two other children were playing nearby. The JCB was digging. As soon as the JCB driver was leaving after finishing his work, he carelessly overturned the vehicle and crushed the child. The local police reached the spot as soon as the information was received. Hargyan said that he was shouting from behind to alert the JCB driver, but in no time the child was crushed. Handesra police station in-charge Inspector Gurmehar Singh said that a thorough investigation is being conducted to find out the reasons for the accident. The body will be handed over to the family after the postmortem. If a written complaint is received from the family, action will be taken against the JCB driver.
