Jalalabad Shopkeepers go on a complete strike against police performance

Fazilka- Shopkeepers have gone on a complete strike in protest against the alleged police laxity in the recent incident of a shop being set on fire by unidentified miscreants in Jalalabad town. All the markets in the city remained closed during this period and traders demanded strict action against the culprits and immediate steps to ensure the safety of business establishments.
It is worth mentioning that on the intervening night of October 8 and 9, two motorcycle-borne miscreants had poured petrol on a three-storey clothing shop on Jalalabad’s Railway Road and set it on fire, burning the entire stock to ashes.
Babbu Doda, President of the Jalalabad Chamber of Commerce, said that the traders had warned the police to arrest the culprits within two days, otherwise they would close their shops and protest.
He said that all the union representatives associated with the trade board decided to close their shops on Saturday in protest after a meeting on Friday evening. The traders have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and assurance of safety of the traders of Jalalabad town.
