Jal Mahotsav Spreads Message of Water Conservation Deputy Commissioner
Una, March 20: Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that the ‘Jal Mahotsav’ is being used as a platform to raise awareness about water conservation and the protection of water sources. He emphasized that ensuring the daily supply of clean, adequate, and uninterrupted drinking water to every household remains the administration’s top priority. To achieve this, systems such as ground-level inspections, technical monitoring, and accountability mechanisms are being continuously strengthened.
He was presiding over a meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission, where he also directed officials to complete pending entries on the ‘e-Gram Swaraj’ portal within a stipulated timeframe and to effectively implement regular water quality testing.
On the occasion, he informed that the Jal Shakti Department is organizing the ‘Jal Mahotsav’ in the district from March 8 to March 22, 2026, under the aegis of the District Water and Sanitation Mission. Under the theme “Har Ghar Pani – Khud Nigrani” (Water for Every Home – Self-Monitoring), awareness programs on water conservation and management are being conducted in selected Panchayats across all five development blocks of the district.
He further said that the fortnight-long campaign aims to promote community participation in water conservation and water management. During this period, people in rural areas are being educated about the importance of water, sanitation, and the conservation and maintenance of water sources.
The Deputy Commissioner added that the campaign began on March 8 with the observance of Nari Neer Shakti Diwas. Special programs were organized on March 11 as part of a national-level mega event and on March 16 to mark Nadi Diwas. The campaign will conclude on March 22, coinciding with World Water Day, with a state-level event to be held in Baddi.
He also informed that activities under the festival were conducted in 37 Gram Panchayats across various development blocks of Una district, including Bangana, Amb, Haroli, Gagret, and Una, where awareness campaigns on water conservation were carried out.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineers of the Jal Shakti Department (Una Circle), Medical Officer Dr. Sukhdeep Singh, Deputy Directors of Higher and Elementary Education, and officials from various departments.
