International Womens Day MLA Kulwant Singh honours 100 selfemployed women

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 7:- On the occasion of International Women's Day, women involved in self-employment through self-help groups were honoured on behalf of the Punjab government. Under this, MLA Kulwant Singh honoured 100 self-employed women at the constituency level in Mohali.
MLA Kulwant Singh said after the function dedicated to International Women's Day that after this, 100-100 women selected from the assembly constituencies in each district will also be honoured at the district level. Along with this, 100-100 women from all the districts will be selected for the state-level program under "Apna Borobar: Apni Pahndi" and to encourage them, the Punjab government will honour them with an amount of Rs. 25,000 each.
MLA Kulwant Singh said that the main purpose of self-help groups is to encourage economically weaker women in villages to do their work and make them self-reliant, so that poverty can be reduced. He said that a self-help group usually has 10 to 15 women members.
He said that seeing women engaged in self-employment working will also inspire other women. He appealed to women to join as many self-help groups as possible so that they can support themselves and their families in a self-reliant manner.
MLA Kulwant Singh said that through self-help groups, women can start many businesses like sewing and embroidery, beauty parlors, coaching centers, health services, handicrafts, food and beverage items and catering. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is a government elected by the people and dedicated to the people. The government's commitment is to solve the daily problems faced by the people in a timely manner.
He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has launched a scheme of assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh under the Chief Minister's Health Scheme, which is one of the important schemes of the country.
