Inspector General of Police Inspects Narcotics Seized Under NDPS Act
Karnal, July 09:- Today, Ashok Kumar (IPS), Inspector General of Police (Karnal Range), inspected the narcotics seized under the NDPS Act at the District Police Lines, Karnal. Karnal Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarnia and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar were also present during the inspection.
During the inspection, various narcotic substances seized in Karnal district under the NDPS Act—such as poppy husk, cannabis (ganja), charas, smack, sulfa, syrups, capsules, intoxicating pills, opium mixtures, intoxicating powders, and heroin—were verified against the *malkhana* (evidence storage) register.
The seized items, pertaining to 32 cases where court verdicts had been delivered by June 2026, comprised 218 kg 790 g 821 mg of narcotics, 488 capsules, and 560 intoxicating pills. All these seized substances underwent a thorough inspection.
Under the direction of the Inspector General of Police and in the presence of Drug Disposal Committee members, these narcotic substances were sealed and secured at a designated location within the District Police Lines, Karnal.
On this occasion, the Inspector General of Police directed that these narcotics be disposed of in accordance with the rules at the waste disposal facility in Bajida, under the supervision of the committee, at the earliest.
