Indian Premier League 2026 Playoff schedule announced
Chandigarh:- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the schedule and venues of the play-off matches of the Indian Premier League 2026. This time there is good news for cricket lovers of Punjab as the Maharaja Yadvinder Singh International Stadium in New Chandigarh (Mullanpur) has been given the hosting rights for the ‘Eliminator’ and ‘Qualifier-2’.
Change in the venue of the final
The final match of IPL 2026 was earlier scheduled to be held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but some such conditions of the local association and officials came to light which were outside the scope of the BCCI guidelines. Due to this, the board has now decided to hold the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Complete schedule of the play-offs
According to the BCCI, the decisive phase of the tournament will begin on May 26 after 70 league matches:
Qualifier 1 (May 26): The top two teams in the points table will clash at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh).
Eliminator (May 27): The clash between the third and fourth ranked teams will take place at the New International Stadium in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh).
Qualifier 2 (May 29): The match between the losing team of Qualifier-1 and the winning team of Eliminator will also be played in Mullanpur.
Final (May 31): The grand final of the season will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The board has clarified that due to some operational and logistical reasons, the play-off matches are being held in three different cities this season.
