Indian markets close higher Sensex jumps 320 points Nifty crosses 25150
New Delhi:- The stock market closed in the green on Tuesday. Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed higher amid highly volatile trading on Tuesday. Markets were buoyed by heavy buying in bank and metal stocks, strong global trends and optimism over the India-EU FTA.
The 30-share BSE Sensex closed 319.78 points, or 0.39 per cent, higher at 81,857.48. During the day, it touched a high of 82,084.92 and a low of 81,088.59. The 50-share NSE Nifty closed 126.75 points, or 0.51 per cent, higher at 25,175.40. The rupee strengthened 19 paise from its all-time low to close at 91.71 against the US dollar. Of the 30 Sensex companies, Adani Ports, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, NTPC, State Bank of India, UltraTech Cement and Bharat Electronics were among the top gainers. On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Asian Paints, Eternal and ITC were among the laggards.
