India welcomes USIran ceasefire

New Delhi: India on Wednesday welcomed the ceasefire between the US and Iran. India expressed hope that this step will pave the way for lasting peace in West Asia. Along with this, India also stressed the need for continuous dialogue and maintaining diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In an official statement, the Indian government reiterated that de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy are essential to end the conflict. The conflict had witnessed heavy clashes for several days, which had raised fears of a wider regional war.
The Ministry of External Affairs said, "We welcome the ceasefire between the US and Iran and hope that it will lead to lasting peace in West Asia. As we have consistently advocated earlier, de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy are essential to end this war at an early date."
The statement said that India hopes that the movement of ships and global trade through the Strait of Hormuz will continue without any disruption.
This ceasefire is a major step to stop the fighting that had created tension in the Gulf countries and disrupted trade and oil supplies around the world. Under this agreement between the US and Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, which is the most important sea route for sending oil around the world, will now be reopened.
This two-week ceasefire has been possible after diplomatic efforts by Pakistan and several other countries, which is now being seen as an opportunity for mutual dialogue. It is believed that this step will help prevent further escalation of tensions between the two countries.
However, uncertainty remains about the durability of the ceasefire. Experts have warned that maintaining constant communication will be very important to prevent the conflict from resuming. At the same time, this side of India supports the demands for peace emerging around the world. Governments of various countries are now closely monitoring the situation in the coming days.
