IFTU calls for burning copies of four labour codes and holding protests

Nawanshahr:- The Indian Federation of Trade Unions has called for burning copies of the labour code and holding protests demanding the repeal of four labour codes. This decision was taken in a meeting of the state committee. After the meeting, IFTU Punjab President Kulwinder Singh Waraich and State Press Secretary Jasbir Deep said that by implementing this labour code, the Modi government has launched a very deadly attack on the working class, to which the working class will give a strong response in any situation.
They said that the Modi government is ignoring the reality of 80 crore people who are dependent on 5 kg free ration. These announcements are being made despite the fact that the majority of trade unions have openly opposed these anti-worker changes. All the advice and all the demands of the trade unions have been ignored. Many state governments have not yet framed the rules due to opposition to the codes.
But the Modi government does not care about any argument of the rights of the working class. The bitter truth is that a huge share of India's labour force is in the unorganised sector and most of the jobs in the country are unskilled. This announcement of codes will embolden governments and capitalists to break the rights that the workers have fought for so far.
Direct attacks are being made on the rights gained by forming unions and fighting. This will further unleash corporate attacks. Corporates have been waiting for a long time to get the full right of 'hire-and-fire', to impose unlimited working hours and to trample on democratic rights. He said that this is a very shameless attack on the working class by the central government. All this is in the interest of the corporates.
Along with this, a well-thought-out campaign to hand over forests and mineral assets to corporates is also underway. Iftu State Executive Secretary Avtar Singh Tari, Finance Secretary Juginder Pal Gurdaspur, State Committee Members Ramesh Kumar Nurpur, Sri Nath Patiala, Jagsir and Dilip Kumar were also present on the occasion.
