If Women Are Empowered the Nations Progress Is Automatically Ensured Dr Chauhan
Karnal, March 26: In Indian culture, women have held a position of special honor since ancient times. In our society, women have always been accorded a high status and are revered as symbols of power, knowledge, and prosperity. This observation was made by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development.
He was addressing participants at a three-day district-level training program on the 'Gender Module,' organized by the Haryana Institute of Rural Development for Community Level Federation (CLF) members under the Rural Livelihood Mission. On this occasion, District Program Manager Gurmeet Singh welcomed him by presenting a floral bouquet.
Dr. Chauhan stated that promoting gender equality under the Rural Livelihood Mission is the paramount need of the hour; for until women and men receive equal opportunities within society, the vision of holistic development will remain incomplete. He noted that CLF members serve as agents of change at the village level, and by embracing gender sensitivity, they can bring about positive transformations within society.
Emphasizing the specific importance of Hindi—our mother tongue—Dr. Chauhan urged that we prioritize the use of the Hindi language in our daily tasks and administrative activities. Working in one's mother tongue not only simplifies communication but also enhances public participation, thereby broadening the impact of various schemes and initiatives. Underscoring the dignity and significance of women, he reiterated that Indian culture accords women the highest status. In our society, forms of address such as 'Sita-Ram' and 'Radhe-Shyam' demonstrate that the relationship between men and women is founded upon equality and mutual respect. Therefore, recognizing the invaluable contributions of women, we must provide them with opportunities to excel in every field.
Concluding the program, District Program Manager Gurmeet Singh remarked that such training programs are immensely beneficial for CLF members, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of gender-related issues. This empowers them to work more effectively within their respective areas and play a pivotal role in fostering awareness throughout society. On this occasion, Sunita (Trainer), Ashish (Block Programme Manager), Manju (Cluster Coordinator), and the Master of Ceremonies—Saurabh Arora and Yogesh Kumar—were present, along with other dignitaries.
