Hyderabadbound flight diverted to Mumbai due to bomb threat
Hyderabad- A threatening email was received at the Rajiv Gandhi International (RGIA) airport here today, claiming that there was a human bomb on board an IndiGo flight from Jeddah to Hyderabad, following which the plane was diverted to Mumbai and all passengers were safely deplaned.
Airport officials have filed a complaint with the police, saying that they received a threatening email at 5.30 am, warning them to stop the IndiGo flight from landing in Hyderabad. The threat makers wrote that the incident was planned by LTTE-ISI activists to carry out a major blast.
Following this, the police alerted security agencies and the flight was diverted to Mumbai airport where the flight landed safely. The police said that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway based on the complaint.
An IndiGo spokesperson said, "On November 1, a bomb threat was received against IndiGo flight 6E 68 from Jeddah to Hyderabad and the plane was diverted to Mumbai for security reasons. It is also worth mentioning that four months ago, there were also large-scale bomb threats on flights."
