Patiala:- In connection with the national level painting competitions being organized by the National Disaster Management Authority, 76 students of Veer Haqiqat Rai Model Senior Secondary School, Patiala prepared paintings while discussing topics like global warming, environmental conservation and natural disasters.
On this occasion, the school's Principal Mrs. Sarla Bhatnagar, National Disaster Management, Civil Defense and First Aid Trainer Mr. Kaka Ram Verma while addressing the students said that due to global warming, pollution and increasing heat, terrible natural disasters and environmental crises are arising all over the world.
Principal Sarla Bhatnagar said that during the last 50 to 60 years, man has caused great damage to forests, rivers, mountains, greenery, oxygen sources and fertile land in the name of his own interests, conveniences and development. Today's children, youth and animals are suffering the most.
Principal Sarla Bhatnagar, Kaka Ram Verma and NCC Officer Sachna Sharma said that maximum number of trees and plants have been planted in Veer Haqiqat Rai Model Senior Secondary School. They said that about 35 percent of the school area has trees, grass and greenery, which is making the environment clean as well as giving a message of peace, tranquility and awareness towards nature.
Kaka Ram Verma warned that if immediate and effective steps are not taken for environmental conservation, then in the coming time people may have to carry oxygen cylinders. He said that in the future there may be conflicts and wars for drinking water and fertile land.
He appealed to all the people to plant maximum trees, treat every drop of water like gold and silver and consider the protection of natural resources as their common responsibility. He said that the share of forests, rivers, mountains, greenery and wildlife in the earth, India and Punjab is continuously decreasing, due to which the ecological balance is in serious danger.
