Huge Stock of Illicit Liquor Seized from Farm Shack One Arrested
Karnal, July 31: In a major crackdown on the illicit liquor trade, the Karnal Police have seized a large quantity of liquor and beer from a shack located in the fields of the Taraori area. The police arrested one individual at the scene and registered a case against him under the Excise Act.
According to the police, on the evening of July 29, ASI Surajbhan and his team were patrolling and conducting crime investigations in the Beed Dindari area. During this time, they received a tip-off that Basant, a resident of village Mughal Majra, was selling illicit liquor from a shack in the fields. Acting on this credible information, the police team immediately raided the location.
During the raid, the police discovered a large number of liquor and beer cartons inside the shack. Upon questioning, the individual present identified himself as Basant, son of Ramkishan, a resident of village Mughal Majra. A search yielded a total of 322 bottles of liquor and beer, with an estimated value of approximately ?80,000.
The police asked the accused to produce a license or permit for possessing and selling the liquor, but he failed to present any documentation. Subsequently, samples were drawn from each carton and sealed, and the remaining liquor was seized. A case has been registered against the accused at the Taraori police station, and the investigation has been handed over to PSI Jaswinder Singh. The police are now working to determine the source of the liquor and the areas where the accused used to supply it.
