Hoshiarpur- In the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Inter-District Cricket Tournament, Hoshiarpur's U-15 Women's Cricket Team defeated Jalandhar by 35 runs to enter the semi-finals.
Giving information, HDCA Secretary Dr. Raman Ghai said that in this 35-over match, Jalandhar won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting, Hoshiarpur scored 122 runs after being all out in 34.4 overs.
Bhumika Sharma top-scored with 29 runs, Kashvi Rana scored 25 runs and vice-captain Ananya Thakur scored 11 runs. For Jalandhar, Rijal Kaur Sandhu took six wickets while Ritika took one wicket. Chasing a target of 123 runs in the reply innings, the entire Jalandhar team was bundled out for just 87 runs in front of Hoshiarpur's disciplined bowling.
Ritika remained unbeaten on 37 runs while Gursimran scored 12 runs. Vice-captain Ananya Thakur took the most wickets for Hoshiarpur with four, Anshika took three, captain Dhruvika Seth took two and Kashvi Rana took one wicket. With this 35-run victory, Hoshiarpur has secured its place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
HDCA President Dr. Daljit Singh Khela congratulated the team on behalf of the entire association and wished them well for the upcoming match. On this occasion, team coach Davinder Kaur Kalyan, assistant coach Nikita Kumari, district head coach Daljit Singh, junior coach Daljit Dhiman, Pankaj Pinka and Dinesh Sharma also congratulated the players.
PCA selector Gurdeep Minhas was present as the chief guest, while HDCA trainer and former India player Kuldeep Dhami, as well as former players Naresh Kalu, Pooja, Anjali, Vanshika and Suhana also congratulated the team. Dr. Ghai said that the Hoshiarpur team will now play the semi-final with the winner of the Patiala-Muktsar match on October 16.
